The 2nd Annual Planet Palmerston was another roaring success!

A few weeks back the team organizing the event set out to repeat the success of last year's inaugural Planet Palmerston and build on it, and we did just that. Last year's 23 sales raised $2,132.00. This year we had 25 sales on the street and raised just over $3000.00 for Habitat For Humanity Toronto ($3001.20 to be exact)! $825.50 was donated by sales along Palmerston, from College to Bloor, and the remainder was raised by the awesome team efforts of contributors to the "Habitat Headquarters" at 351 Palmerston.

Thanks go out to Kalendar Restaurant, Lily of the Valley, Sidecar Restaurant, The Big Chill Ice Cream Parlor and Metro Grocery for their contributions to the day.

And a special thanks go out to all who participating by having sales, donating goods, baking, facepainting, playing music, making lemonade, sourcing raffle prizes, helping out at headquarters, BBQ'ing, inviting friend, spreading the word or just getting out there and shopping!

If you haven't already, please join our FACEBOOK page (www.facbook.com/planetpalmerston) to stay in the loop when next year's event comes around, to check out some photos from this year and if you have any photos of your own, please upload them there.

Thanks to all who helped make the day a success!

PLANET PALMERSTON RETURNS!

The residents of Palmerston Boulevard are planning their second annual community yard sale with a portion of the proceeds going to Habitat for Humanity for Saturday, May 29th, 2010.

Building on the success of the First Annual event held last summer when Palmerston Blvd hosted 23 sales, several combining multiple homes, and many more homes contributed to the sale at ‘Habitat Headquarters’ where 100% of proceeds went to Toronto Habitat for Humanity. All together the event raised over $2000 for the charity, and double organizer’s goal.

“The intention of the day is to build community on our own street, to invite others to celebrate with us and together, raise money for a charity that helps to build homes and communities on a larger scale,” says one of the event’s organizers Mackenzie Muldoon; “everybody wins!”

Palmerston residents who are interested in participating are encouraged to contact Mackenzie Muldoon at planetpalmerston@gmail.com to register their sale.

Habitat for Humanity Toronto is a non-profit housing organization established in 1988. They welcome all people without discrimination to join them as they build simple, decent, affordable homes in partnership with low-income families. Every 10 minutes, Habitat for Humanity helps a family improve their housing situation in more than 100 countries around the world.

Come celebrate community on the prettiest street in Toronto!
